My kids like to do crafts. They like to read books. They like to look at pictures, and they like to play games. They like to learn with hands-on activities. They like to get deeply involved in one topic, and are okay learning about that topic from the viewpoint of many different disciplines. Unit studies are a natural with my children.Project packs, as I define them, are an extension of unit studies. I assemble a project pack in a plastic box. The boxes I use are "sweater boxes" and have a 16 quart capacity. Our project packs contain everything a kid needs to learn about the topic, do crafts on the topic, and the like. For instance, a project pack might include: - couple of books on the topic
- short book on the topic
- laminated coloring pages
- laminated fact sheets and/or faq sheets
- dry-erase pens
- crayons
- scissors
- glue sticks
- coloring pages
- laminated pictures of craft ideas
- a folder with any templates needed for the crafts
- supplies needed for the crafts in the pack (such as toilet paper rolls, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, ...)
- manipulatives
The project packs I have listed here are not something I'm going to put together and sell. These are just lists of the stuff I put in our project packs. Enjoy the project packs below, and let me know if you find something that must be included. |
